Reading Bowling Club
Each year we have an open day and traditionally gain a number of new members, but we will always welcome new and experienced bowlers at anytime if you would like to join us. We are a thriving and very successful club in the heart of Reading. We have two men's teams in the Kennet League and two men's teams in the over-55s league; the ladies have one team in the Thames Valley Ladies League. Since 2021, we participate in the Oddfellows Triples Mixed League with matches on Wednesday evenings and at the weekends. Throughout the season we have a number of men-only, ladies-only and mixed matches against other clubs and associations - just take a look at our Calendar to see how busy we are in the summer! There are normally a number of people on the green or relaxing at the bar on Monday and Friday evenings so why not pop in and say hello - you'll be made very welcome. Summer bowling (with some variations) is as follows:
| Monday |
Afternoon - Men over
55 league. Evening - Club Points from 6pm - mixed fours or triples depending on numbers. It's basically a roll-up and great for new bowlers to gain experience - but there is a trophy at the end of the season for all you pot hunters! |
| Tuesday | Afternoon - Ladies friendly match. |
| Evening - Men's league. | |
| Wednesday | Evening - Inter-club friendly or Oddfellows league match. |
| Thursday | Afternoon - Ladies league. |
| Friday | Afternoon - Men over 55 league. |
| Saturday | Afternoon - Inter-club friendly or Oddfellows league match. |
| Sunday | Afternoon - Inter-club friendly or Oddfellows league match. |
Players and visitors who have mobility or sight disabilities are
more than welcome but it is suggested that they have an assistant to
help them around the site. We are happy to discuss their
requirements and recommend that they contact the secretary or a
committee member prior to visiting. The site has limited parking so
it is important that the club knows beforehand if this is required.
The committee will do everything possible to enable players and
visitors to enjoy our historic Reading Bowls club.
